“Grace happens when we act with others on behalf of our world.” — Joanna Macy

I’d like to invite you all to an evening of music and meditation in service of the healing of the world. I was inspired to create this offering in response to a powerful training I recently completed with One Earth Sangha addressing the intersection between climate chaos, social engagement and activism, and spiritual practice.

As an artist, a lot of the processing I’m doing around climate change and the general state of things is naturally coming out in my music. I am ready to share some of this new work, and since we are coming up on COP 21 in Paris, and in light of the recent heart-breaking terrorist attacks and ongoing refugee crisis, it seems an appropriate time to come together and join in healing practices like meditation, song and chant.

We will begin with a musical welcome followed by a 30-minute guided meditation. After a stretch break, I will share music and dharma inspired by the climate crisis, Joanna Macy’s book “Active Hope”, and the EcoSattva path. We’ll end with a little chanting and then have a chance to connect with each other.

Note: The yoga studio has blankets and bolsters, but please consider bringing a meditation cushion or low cloth chair (nothing metal or sharp, please) | No meditation experience necessary!

Another inspiration for this event is the Global Climate Prayer created by the Thich Nhat Hanh community. It’s a format for two weeks (Nov 30-Dec 11) of global practice (including a proposed “Animal Fast”) leading up to the Paris talks, and I really love the whole thing. You don’t have to be Buddhist for it to resonate, just interested in mindfulness, here.

I am hoping you will consider joining me for this evening of practice and song in community!
