After nearly a decade focusing on multimedia productions, studio work, and drumming for other artists, Bay Area maverick PC Muñoz returns as a songwriter-leader in 2016, with a new album of original songs, Echo, and a new trio featuring longtime guitarist/collaborator Marc Weibel. The evening will feature two sets of material ranging from angular, instrumental free-jazz deconstructions (SMASH) to stripped-down pop-influenced songs (HITS).
PC Muñoz is a musician and producer based in San Francisco. His body of work includes recordings across multiple mediums, from Grammy nominated contemporary classical music to CMJ-charting funk songs and modern dance/multimedia productions. A frequent and enthusiastic collaborator, PC has recorded with rock legend Jackson Browne, dream-pop artist Ingrid Chavez, longtime Kronos Quartet cellist Joan Jeanrenaud, Emmy-winning virtuoso Van-Anh Vo, and countless other musicians and recording artists across a wide range of genres. He was a 2015 Dresher Ensemble artist-in-residence in Oakland, CA and a 2013 Loft Literary Center Equilibrium Fellow in Minneapolis, MN.
“PC Muñoz is an artist that knows no boundaries. His output straddles myriad genres, influences and art forms. From funk to classical, pop to hip-hop, experimental to jazz, globally-renowned artists in all these realms consider Muñoz a first-call percussionist, producer, composer, and songwriter. He’s also an artist with a deep social conscience — one who who uses music to connect cultures and communities together.” — Anil Prasad, Innerviews

About Marc Weibel
Marc Weibel formed his eclectic guitar style copping rock licks and funk lines from the likes of Van Halen and Prince as a teen in the 80s, refined by formal study of classical guitar and country twang/jazz studies with Jim Campilongo. With Stephen Smith he co-produced the acclaimed “Blueprints of Jazz” CD series for Talking House Records and helmed releases by indie-popsters The Lovemakers and elephone. Since 1998 he has been a fixture on PC Muñoz’s releases and productions.
