Ana Teresa Fernandez explores the intersections of border politics, female labor, and personal identity through painting, performance, and video. Her work seeks to illuminate the psychological and physical barriers that define gender, race, and class in Western society and the Global South. Most recently, she painted the border fence separating San Diego and Tijuana powder blue, in a performance intended to erase the border. Gallery Wendi Norris, San Francisco, will present a solo exhibition of her work in March 2016.
