R. Beny is the moniker for ambient modular synth experimenter Austin Cairns. Beginning as a guitarist with a penchant for analog delay, Cairns found artistic renewal in the world of modular synthesis. His experimentation often yield complex textures and haunting meditations.
Dev Bhat, aka Shipwreck Detective, is an experimental musician who uses synthetic and organic sounds to create ambient down-tempo atmospheres. Bhat often layers synth drones and guitar feedback with sparse beats to create dense walls of sound, blending harmony and dissonance.
Austin and Dev are childhood friends and have frequently collaborated since their formative years. Each reincarnation has helped establish an aesthetic that allows them to converse through sound.
Zachary Mariano and Alex Cohen are music performance researchers at Mills College. They are currently conducting experiments in off-world expeditions to dramatic landscapes of cyclic sound and texture in their hi-tech and hi-fi vehicles of layered digital feedback and prepared electric guitar.
