10th Anniversary, with SF Fuji Miyabi-kai students, Utai & Shimai, and Hosho School Masters Kazufusa Hosho and Masayuki Fujii. Program also includes special performance by Theatre of Yugen. Presented by NPO Infusion and supported by the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco.

The recital will begin with dance (shimai) and vocal (utai) performances by Bay Area students of Hosho Noh Master Masayuki Fujii. Then professional Noh actors will perform selections from three Noh plays, culminating in a short performance of the lyrically exquisite Tamakazura, in which the ghost of a once much desired woman pleads for release from passion and resentment. As counterpoint to the gravity of Noh, local company Theatre of Yugen will perform the kyogen comedy Fukurou Yamabushi, or “Owl Mountain Priest.”

  • Part I: 4:00pm – 5:30pm

SF Fuji Miyabi-kai Students: Utai, Shimai
