Loosely based on Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” Enter the Cave is a story of transformation and transcendence told through illusion. Utilizing dance, original costumes, sets, lighting design and musical score, Enter the Cave rearranges our notions of reality, space, and time. As three embodiments of one creature’s psychophysical state, WIFE manifests as a questioning of truth, a beckoning into darkness, and an offer to surrender to modern myth in its most irrational form. With guest performances by Dorian Wood and Hecuba. Cash bar all evening.

WIFE (Jasmine Albuquerque, Kristen Leahy, and Nina McNeely) employs projected body-mapping animations, sculpture, original music and costumes, movement, and dance as vehicles for storytelling. She harnesses technology (magic) to illuminate enduring mystical phenomena and ancient archetypes. WIFE is a magician of picture and light, reflecting rescued dreams and the subtleties of human behavior. WIFE have performed at venues and events including El Rey Theater, The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, MOCA Grand Performances, Mack Sennett Studios, Dilettante, Honor Fraser Gallery, Native Strategies, Human Resources, Pieter, and Bootleg Dance Festival, all in Los Angeles; and Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum; Art Basel Miami; and Frequency Festival, Lincoln, UK.

Los Angeles-based artist Dorian Wood is “armed with a vocal charisma that would befit a preacher and an experimental streak that would make avant-gardists swoon” (WNYC Culture). Wood has brought his emotionally-charged performances to concert halls, museums, music venues and performance spaces throughout the US, Mexico, and Europe. In 2011, Dorian was commissioned by LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) to present a new work for the performance series Los Angeles Goes Live, part of Pacific Standard Time. Mr. Wood’s works have been presented at LACMA, UCLA, Highways Performance Space (Santa Monica), Pacific Design Center (West Hollywood), The Stone (New York City), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco), Mousonturm (Frankfurt), Botanique (Brussels) and the Stockholm Fringe Fest.

Hecuba. Two Bodies. Two People. Twogether. . !! . II . XX . An ongoing collaboration between Jon Beasley and Isabelle Albuquerque that generates music, performance, film and other media. “Relentless Experimentalists” (Dazed and Confused), Hecuba create “captivating, beautiful, and otherworldly strange” (URB) work that “blurs the boundaries of singular identity” (Electronic Beats). Hecuba are based in Los Angeles and have performed internationally with notable performances and works at The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, MOCA and Walker Art Center.

Cash bar all evening. This program will also be streamed live online.
