The project Forefathers (The Forefathers’ Eve) is an unprecedented meeting of two musical worlds – the sound of improvised music and contemporary electronic music. The project recognized pianist and composer Piotr Orzechowski ‘Pianohooligan’ invites you to cooperation outstanding creators wider ambient such as William Basinski, Christian Fennesz, Robert Rich and Krzysztof Knittel, who together with the jazz band High Definition Quartet take to attempt a musical interpretation of Slavic rite Forefathers, as described in the second part of the timeless drama of Adam Mickiewicz of the same title.
The plot of the source text will be devoted to sound through the juxtaposition of opposing spheres: human (improvisation) and spiritual (electronic sets). The participants of the ritual role will be played by a jazz quartet, and each of the invited artists in one of the ghosts from the underworld. The project Forefathers in terms of Piotr Orzechowski is not just a conversation between two worlds, but also attempt to give through music emotional states of their representatives, as well as the moral teachings of communication by newcomers from the underworld.
