“Thrillingly athletic … a joy to watch as well as to hear.”
— The Guardian
A performance by Scotland’s Colin Currie, “the world’s finest and most daring percussionist” (Spectator), is a pulse-quickening journey through both artistic styles and physical space. Currie has commissioned and/or premiered works from a wealth of composers of wide-ranging cultures and traditions, earning 2015’s “Instrumentalist of the Year” honors from Britain’s Royal Philharmonic Society for his achievements. But beyond this artistic expansiveness, Currie makes a literal excursion over the course of a concert, navigating his way around a stage brimming with instruments: vibraphone and marimba, drums from around the world, gongs, rare inventions, and even his own body.
