California Music Center presents another of its festive house concerts featuring past winners of the Irving M. Klein International String Competition. Violinist Natalie Lin (4th Prize 2012) visits from Houston, where she is currently completing Doctoral studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. She is also the founder and leader of the new Houston-based conductorless ensemble, KINETIC. She will perform with pianist Scott Cuellar, a fellow Doctoral candidate at Rice and 1st Prize winner of the 2016 San Antonio International Piano Competition.
The program will feature: Britten’s Reveille, Mozart’s Sonata in E minor K304, Brahms’ Sonata No. 1 in G major, and Bartok’s Romanian Dances.
The concert takes place at the home of Mike Finn, an historic Alamo Square Victorian (address provided upon ticket purchase), with a rich artistic past, having hosted everything from experimental theatre, puppet shows, and concerts by English folk-rocker Patrick Wolf and David J of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets.
