More Information

Grades K-1 | Once upon an Art Camp… | Autumn Brown

We’ll spark campers’ imaginations with a collection of contemporary stories. They will enjoy a variety of children’s books and poems, including A Gift from Greensboro, written by Oklahoma poet Quraysh Ali Lansana and illustrated by our great state’s Skip Hill. While exploring these stories, campers will create collages, paintings, sculptures and many more literature-based masterpieces. This camp will create a treasure by combining visual arts with literature.

Grades K-1 and 2-4 | Can you hear the Art? | Leslie Hensley and LaRissa Conn

Shhhh, what’s that sound? It’s ART! This collaboration camp will explore the relationship of texture, movement and music. Through illusion-inspired artworks by Leandro Erlich and quirky singer Bjork, campers will create visually deceptive artwork they can hear!

Grades 2-4 | Dress the Part | Dayna Brown

Students will explore the basics of costume design, including color families, period fashion and texture. Campers will learn sewing skillsets, like threading, running a sewing machine, building patterns and choosing fabrics. Young fashion artists will create a basic costume to model for family and friends at Friday’s Camp Contemporary Showcase.

Grades 5-6 | Skyscraper Challenge | Jenny Clark

In this STEAM-based camp, students will participate in exploratory activities in which they design, build and test their structures using everyday objects. Finding inspiration in contemporary architects like Daniel Libeskind and Renzo Piano, campers will learn the basics of architecture as well as develop design skills. At the end of the week, students will use what they have learned to build their own 3-D skyscrapers. The sky’s the limit!
