A Wednesday Improv Salon (a company-style evening)
Featuring
- Andrea Centazzo — percussion, coordination
- Wobbly aka Jon Leidecker — electronics
- Kyle Bruckmann — double reeds
- Lisa Mezzacappa — bass
- Ron Heglin — low brass, voice
Starting in the 1970s and continuing for twenty years, Derek Bailey organized annual Company Weeks, at which a varied cast of improvisers would be asked to play in ad hoc groups on the spur of the moment.
Company Night is the same idea, compressed into a single evening of short improvisations by spontaneously-formed groups hand-picked by our coordinateur.
This evening’s participants are double-reed player extraordinataire Kyle Bruckmann, digital (and sometimes analog) electronics wizard Wobbly (Jon Leidecker), sublime brass player and singer Ron Heglin, bass master (the musical instrument, not the fish!) Lisa Mezzacappa and our special guest, visiting from (mostly) sunny Los Angeles, internationally acclaimed Italo-American gong beater, and tonight’s coordinateur, Andrea Centazzo.
