About this Artwork

Scott Murphy – Pounce de Leon | 20″ × 16″ | Oil on Panel

My artwork is a culmination of personal interests throughout my life, starting with a love of comic books and video games as an adolescent, and evolving into literature, movies, and music at a later age. My work seeks to implement all of those influences into captivating images. Painting characters and stories rooted in mythology, fairy tale, and fiction are what gives me the most excitement, and provide a perfect platform for letting my imagination run wild. Trying to create realistic images of characters and places that don’t exist is a wonderful challenge and grants me a great sense of satisfaction. I think that art should tell stories and offer a window into worlds unknown, whether they be light and happy or dark and grim. I hope that my paintings fill the viewer with a sense of wonder and allow for further contemplation on the stories within.
