The electric jazz collective Kneebody from L.A. has been playing music for 16 years. Trumpetist Shane Endsley and saxophonist Ben Wendel feel and complement each other flawlessly, relying on the rhythm section consisting of Adam Benjamin on keyboard, bassist Kaveh Rastegar and drummer Nate Wood. Their musical influences include as well D’Angelo’s Voodoo as Elliot Smith and Miles Davis. Live they are known to put intense sonic landscapes on Radiohead, but with Squarepusher’s rhythmic bombast and the improvisation freedom of a Brad Mehldau concert. After a collaboration with Daedelus in 2015, the album “Anti-Hero” came out last March.
Super Sonic Jazz presents exciting and innovative artists in Paradiso, which make a variety of musical influences with a jazz approach: from electronics to Afrikaans grooves, classical, soul and hip-hop.
