Beautifully Grotesque: The Life of Valeska Gert is a filmed version of a live show made for online viewing. It tells the story of actor/dancer Valeska Gert of 1920’s Berlin fame. An incomparable artist whose performances challenged societal bourgeois norms, who sadly was forgotten in time and not recognized for the genre-breaking artistry she pioneered.
In this biographical dance theater piece, Janet Collard becomes the artist Valeska Gert, recreating some of her famous dances in her own costume designs. 4/3, 4/4, 4/10 and 4/11 in the Afternoon session. And YouTube on demand.
