Clint Eastwood’s 1988 Charlie Parker biopic, Bird created quite a controversy when it came out. Were its misrepresentations of Parker’s personality and talent worth the price to bring his music to a larger public? Shortly after it’s release, NJMH Senior Scholar Loren Schoenberg gathered a panel of musicians and historians (some of whom knew Parker) to discuss the film.
Guests include: Dick Katz, Gary Giddins, Stanley Crouch, Dan Morgenstern, and Ira Gitler.
