More than a gospel institution, the Blind Boys of Alabama are a cultural force that has swept up musicians from every stylistic precinct, including Prince, Willie Nelson, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Ben Harper. Formed by a group of elementary students at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in the late 1930s, the group has won five GRAMMY awards (including one for lifetime achievement). Filmed in December 2018, this performance is an uplifting celebration of the holidays that draws upon the trove of classic songs from their star-studded 2003 Christmas release, Go Tell It on the Mountain, and their 2014 collaboration with blues great Taj Mahal, Talkin’ Christmas.
Holiday concerts by the Blind Boys have become a yearly tradition and we promise an evening of truly sanctified spirit!
