ONLINE BROADCAST (Recorded: NOV 29, 2018)
One of America’s most renowned and daring creative pioneers, Laurie Anderson is best known for her wildly inventive music, groundbreaking multi-media presentations and innovative use of technology.
The opening night of her November 2018 week as Resident Artistic Director was a World Premiere collaboration between Anderson and Bay Area-based piano great Tammy L. Hall. In Anderson’s words:
The first part of the series was inspired by the composer Tammy Hall’s beautiful piece “For Miss Jones”. I love music that’s written for a real person and tries to capture her in a song. I thought it would be interesting to do a collection of pieces we’ve both written for women and make it into a celebration that crosses back and forth from jazz to stories to electronics.
