Eight-Week Class Series with Guillermo García and Hande Yildiz at HouseTango in Berkeley.

“Rhythmic Foundations of Milonga, Vals and Tango”

In this class series we will work on dancing to the essential rhythmic patterns of milonga, vals and tango. As opposed to a step-based approach, the classes are geared towards extending our dance through the musical understanding of rhythm. We will be doing lots of steps with different rhythms. And to be able to do this, we will have to look closely at technique and partner connection. We’ll start with Milonga and add Vals and Tango in later weeks.

Every Wednesday evening from June 20 through August 15, 2018.
(no class on July 4th unless students prefer otherwise)

  • 7:00-8:15 pm Class
  • 8:15-9:00 pm Práctica

For advance registration please message Guillermo García or Hande Yildiz.

A tango guitarist and dancer from Argentina, Guillermo García is one of the pioneers of local live tango music in the San Francisco Bay Area. He released one of the first locally-produced tango CDs with his band Flor de Tango, founded in 1996. He then co-founded Trio Garufa in 2001, recording three more tango albums in the Bay Area and performing extensively at milongas and concerts in the USA and Argentina

Guillermo continues the century-old tradition of tango guitar, steeped in the legacy of Carlos Gardel’s guitarists and following the style of Golden Age legend Roberto Grela.
