LAHouseConcerts welcomes you to a soothing afternoon concert, inspired by the sounds of West Africa and classical chamber music, amidst a verdant nature sanctuary and regenerative farm at the Village Playgarden in Altadena.

Surrounded by trees and greenery (and even a few sweet baby goats!), we invite you to soak in the peaceful melodies of The Talking Strings (Soundcloud) featuring the internationally-acclaimed duo of:

  • Peter Jacobson, a Grammy-winning cellist, producer, songwriter-singer, chamber musician and teacher. Peter has recorded cello for Dr. Dre and plays cello with the San Diego Symphony.
  • Keenan Webster, a virtuoso of the 21-string kora from West Africa, a harp-like instrument made from a large calabash cut in half and covered in cow skin with a long, hardwood neck.

As one of LAHouseConcerts’ signature deep-listening concerts, this meditative experience aims to leave you refreshed, inspired and connected to those around you. You may quietly meander through the farm and say hello to the goats during the event.

*NOTE: Please bring a chair or picnic blanket to sit on. Ample free parking is available in the neighborhood but may require a short walk. Infused water and light snacks will be served.
