Álvaro Domene
A Madrid-born, New York based guitarist and composer operating at the convergence of various styles of spontaneous and composed music. Recent collaborators include Briggan Krauss, Joe McPhee, Jim Black, Michaël Attias, Karl Berger, Ches Smith, and Ben Goldberg. Domene attended the jazz program at Middlesex University in London, and has studied under Chris Batchelor, Elliott Sharp, and John Stowell. He is currently composing a new piece for string quartet, also writing for his newly formed trio “Leaving The Sky in Splinters” (with drummer Kate Gentile and bassist Kim Cass), and developing strategies for his first solo guitar album which will be recorded in the new year. He is also an active performer in New York City’s jazz and creative music scene, leading various groups in addition to working with numerous artists. One of his latest releases, “Synaptic Self” by the trio dMu, was included in the “Best Albums of 2016” list by Avant Music News.
Briggan Krauss
An internationally recognised saxophonist, guitarist, composer and sound artist who has been a strong presence on the New York creative music scene since 1994. He is a founding member of the band Sexmob, has played on Grammy Award winning and nominated recordings, and leads several of his own projects as well as collaborating with many other improvisers and composers in New York City and around the world. He has worked with a diverse range of artists from John Zorn, Robin Holcomb, Satoko Fuji and Anthony Coleman to Rufus Wainwright, Trey Anastasio, Antony, and the band Medeski, Martin and Wood.
He connects the extreme edges of saxophone technique with the unexplored tonal possibilities of the instrument, making his work as much about shape as it is about a signature sound.
Mike Pride
Based out of New York City since 2000, Mike Pride currently performs solo, leads jazz quartet From Bacteria To Boys, the 7-drummer installation Drummer’s Corpse, and the piano trio, I Hate Work. He also co-leads the ensembles Pulverize The Sound (w/ Peter Evans and Tim Dahl) and Period (w/ Charlie Looker and Chuck Bettis). Pride is renowned for his ability to excel in a wide range of genres and ensembles. He has worked with everyone from improvised music icon Anthony Braxton to punk legends Millions Of Dead Cops, toured extensively on four continents, appeared on more than 100 recordings, and toured arenas around the world opening for comedian Amy Schumer with Jason Stein’s Locksmith Isidore. A short list of his collaborators includes Mick Barr, Tim Berne, Boredoms, Eugene Chadbourne, Nels Cline, Andrew D’Angelo, Trevor Dunn, Mary Halvorson, Kirk Knuffke, George Lewis, Frank Lowe, Bill McHenry, Tony Malaby, Butch Morris, Joe Morris, William Parker, Marc Ribot, Matana Roberts, Herb Robertson, Jamie Saft, Nate Wooley, Otomo Yoshihide and John Zorn.
