Leyla McCalla, a New York-born Haitian-American living in New Orleans, sings in French, Haitian, Creole, and English. She also plays cello, banjo and guitar. Influenced by traditional Creole, Cajun and Haitian music, as well as jazz and folk, her music is earthy, elegant, soulful and witty.
