Libella

Featuring eclectic electronic musicians Carmen Rizzo and Joel Shearer dipping into ambient landscapes. Libella, a Los Angeles based duo are comprised of two time Grammy nominated producer and electronic musician, Carmen Rizzo and multi-instrumentalist and artist, Joel Shearer who’s collective album credits range from Coldplay, Ryuichi Sakamoto to Damien Rice and AR Rahman. By recording remotely all over the globe from Berlin to Prague, Montreal to Moscow, the duo found the intersecting lines of analogue undertones and lush ambience in a collection of hypnotic songs called The Apostle Of Beauty. Libella’s debut is out now on Electrofone Music.

Carmen Rizzo

Producer, artist, electronic musician, composer, DJ, remixer, and two-time Grammy nominee Carmen Rizzo has had a very eclectic career, from writing, engineering and programming on Seal’s classic album Seal 2 to producing and writing for Paul Oakenfold’s Bunka album, and from collaborating with Tuvan throat singers Huun Huur Tu to co-founding the groundbreaking world music/electronic act Niyaz (whose three albums all debuted at #1 on the iTunes world music chart).

Carmen is a frequent fixture in album credits, working with such artists as Coldplay, Seal, Perry Farrell, Alanis Morissette, Dido, Jem, AR Rahman, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Khaled, Michael Nyman, and Pete Townshend, as well as with record producers Trevor Horn, Rob Cavallo, David Foster and Marius De Vries. He has recorded all over the world, from Abbey Road studios (UK) and Studio Plus XXX (Paris) to Record Plant (L.A.) and Studio 301 (Australia), among others.

Joel Shearer

An internationally established and highly regarded session and touring musician who’s played guitar for some of the worlds biggest artists, producers and composers, including Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, Annie Lennox, Joe Cocker, Damien Rice, Alanis Morrisette, Dido, Michael Buble and Sarah McLachlan. Being a songwriter and producer himself, Shearer understands the psychology and disposition of the artist, the producer and the musician, offering a sympathetic insight and experience to approaching the creative process. Responsible for helping shape, define and create the textural and warm ambient sounds behind artists like Damien Rice and Alexi Murdoch, Shearer has a reputation for creating unique, beautiful and haunting soundscapes as well as inventive parts and arrangements for both super star pop acts as well as indie and underground artists.

Karavan Sarai

Performing original and traditional electro-acoustic music of the Silk Road interwoven with ambient contemporary electronica. With the gracious power of belly dance to the colorful dances of the Indian gypsies, one is transported on a visual and sonic journey.

Composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Narayan Sijan lived on the Silk Road from 1994-2006, learning music from mystics, masters, and locals. He creates an innovative alchemy of music, storytelling, and beauty in his album collaborations with two-time Grammy nominee, producer, and programmer Carmen Rizzo. Schirin Chams-Diba performs a visual feast of sacred temple and traditional dances of the Silk Road, invoking elegant dances of her native Persian lands to the magic of belly dance and the colorful gypsies of India.

Karavan Sarai’s 2018 album, Painted Sands, was in the World Music Charts Top Ten for ten weeks, peaking at number four. The group’s debut album, Woven Landscapes (2015), was in the Top Ten charts for six weeks, peaking at number six.
