The Vancouver Visual Art Foundation invites you to get creative with our online art classes. We feature talented artists from our incredible Art Vancouver to teach their skills online.

Loose Watercolour Flowers Art Class

Learn to paint several types of loose painterly flowers in watercolour. You can use these to make signs for special events or cards or pretty paintings. Also covered in this class is information on various types and brands of brushes and paints and paper. There is a lot to know about watercolour supplies and Kathy will help you navigate that learning curve.

Painted examples are the sort of things you will be learning, not exact replicas of what you will end up with. It does take practice but it’s fun!

Materials:

Students are expected to provide their own supplies in order to participate.

  • Watercolour paper: The best that you can afford! I like cold press. Always try to get some cotton content
  • Watercolour Brushes – Rounds in various sizes. I recommend Opus Galiano in a round 4, 8 and 12 to begin with
  • Watercolour Paint in your favourite colours but you will need red, pink, purple, green, blue and yellow.
  • I like Daniel Smith, Winsor and Newton, M. Graham but talk to the staff at Opus, they are very knowledgeable and can help guide you. Don’t buy too much before this class because I will cover a lot of information to help you make further buying decisions, because believe me, after this class you will be hooked on watercolour painting and you will want to go get more supplies!
