Lyracle is a new ensemble dedicated to exploring historical performance practices featuring voice and viol.

Lyracle is an ensemble dedicated to repertoire featuring voice and viol-family instruments. We founded Lyracle in 2018 to bring creative, unique, and historically informed performances to audiences both familiar and unfamiliar with early music. Our current focus is the largely forgotten art of accompanying the solo voice with a single viol, and we hope to help give this unique practice the attention it deserves.

Over the years, countless harpsichords have been tuned, hundreds of music stands placed onstage, and thousands of audience members have embraced the talent and grace of SoHIP’s summer series musicians. In our three decades of presenting the region’s best early musicians, we have presented nearly 600 concerts by over 100 different ensembles.
