Thollem’s known internationally for his acoustic piano work in improvised and post-classical music. The last several years he’s taken a leap into the electric with several solo projects and albums as well as a slew of collaborations with an incredible list of musicians, filmmakers and dancers. When he performs solo, he has a panoply of eclectic approaches that vary from electro-acoustic and noise to blues to punk to sounds inspired by the wide array of cultures he’s had the privilege to experience and work within over the years. Thollem’s performances are a celebration of sound and ideas rich with eclectic influences and inspired by the myriad sonic experiences on his life long travels throughout well over 20 different countries.
