Ian has known about the healing powers of music since he was a child. Ian’s dad is a drummer, his mom an artist. Ian studied with Nick Toscano and Tom Palinko before moving to Maui, Boston and New York City to further his knowledge on the drums. In NewYork Ian was fortunate to attend The Collective School of Music where he studied Jazz, Afro Cuban, Brazilian, Caribbean, African, New Orleans second line, Rock and Funk. Expanding his vocabulary and giving him the chance to play in many different ensembles like The Jeff Thomas band, Super Fetch, MahRay, Sugar, Flowers and Kain, Rooster, The Packer trio, The Marcy Kelly Trio, Super Cool, Greedy Fly, and Jeff Blaney.
While in Boston he was gifted a guitar and has been playing ever since. He currently plays with a couple different trios and does solo work and is also now playing with Mystic Dead.
Music has given Ian the ability to speak freely from his spirit in a way that that he cannot manage with the English language.
Original Songwriters Night was created by Linda Bonadies and Scott Parry and takes place on the first Thursday of most months at Water Street Tavern (12 Water Street, Mystic, CT). Serving excellent food and drink; this event is open to the public. There is a $10 cover which goes to the featured performer.
